A Tribute to Edgard: Unveiling the Origins of El Cabezón Coffee Lot

Estimated time reading – 2 minutes.

The name “El Cabezón” is steeped in Nicaraguan tradition, where nicknames are a common way to express affection among loved ones. This plot of land was lovingly tended to by a son of Don Bibiano Montenegro, known to all as Edgard, but affectionately called “Cabezón”. In honor of his memory and contributions to this land during his life, the owners chose to name this lot “El Cabezón”.

Roots and Growth: The Age and Abundance of Coffee Plants in El Cabezón Lot

Prior to the establishment of Finca La Cimarrona, coffee was cultivated in the El Cabezón lot. However, the existing variety did not align with the farm’s objectives. In 2022, we undertook a renovation project, replacing the previous coffee plants with the new Anacafé 14 variety. A total of 17,500 coffee plants were planted across 7 manzanas of land in Nicaragua, equivalent to 5 hectares or 12 acres. This lot spans an altitude ranging from 970 to 1070 meters, and these new coffee plants rest under the shade of trees.
